Overview

Culinari brings recipes, videos, articles and food creators together in one app. Watch food reels, explore longer cooking videos, discover recipes worth making, read food stories, and find inspiration for your next meal, from simple everyday dishes to chef-level technique.

The problem

Food inspiration is scattered. Short videos live in one app, recipes in blogs, and stories in newsletters. Cooks lose their place mid-recipe, struggle in kitchens with poor signal, and creators have few ways to be supported for the work they put into teaching.

The goal

Build one warm, fast home where people discover what to cook, learn how to make it, and enjoy the people behind the food, while giving creators a real way to earn from their craft.

Process
01

Discover

Mapped how people actually cook: scroll for inspiration, check a recipe, then glance back at it with messy hands. Every flow was designed around that rhythm.

02

Design

A cream and orange interface where food photography leads. A personalised feed, a Trending shelf and creator stories sit on one calm home screen.

03

Build

React Native and Expo with Supabase behind it for accounts, feeds, follows and subscriptions, plus offline storage for saved recipes and smooth Reanimated transitions.

04

Ship

Released on the App Store and Google Play, with privacy and account controls built in from day one.

Ways to support creators
ReflectionCooking apps fail when they treat the kitchen like a desk. Designing for sizzling pans, poor reception and glances instead of long reads shaped every decision, from structured steps to offline access.
